ATCS Applicants go through a rigorous hiring process with the FAA. All applicants complete a "Tier 1" assessment after receiving a conditional job offer. Some individuals are referred for a more in-depth 'Tier 2' assessment with an FAA-approved psychologist.
If you've been referred for a Tier 2 evaluation, the FAA will give you scheduling options based on location and date. Tier 2 assessments must be done in person, not via telehealth. Once you choose a location/date, that provider will reach out to confirm and determine a specific time for the appointment.
There is no cost to the applicant for the assessment.
Our Procedure
If you are scheduled with Dr. Blomeke, we will email you options for start times, as well as a biographical questionnaire to complete.
The actual appointment will involve questionnaires on the computer and an interview with Dr. Blomeke.
Applicants vary widely with how long the appointment takes; we've always completed it in one day but it can vary from 3 hours to 6 hours.
Following the appointment, Dr. Blomeke prepares a report for the FAA meeting their specific requirements within a week.
